It is appropriate for people whose atrial fibrillation (AFib) is nonvalvular, meaning it does not involve heart valves. My mother just had one placed in Dec. She is doing great. They have replaced her Plavix to Eliquis. She is having a TEE scan next week to follow up to see how it is working.
