A MyHeartDiseaseTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have not had a big appetite since heart surgery CABG one month ago. I got an ulcer from the baby aspirin they put me on. I am losing about 1/2 lb a day. BUT I am still overweight at 167 pounds. I am 5'6" tall. I should weigh under 150 I think. Is it safe for me to keep losing weight? I have always been a healthy eater... eating organically grown foods as much as possible, and fresh and homemade meals. No smoking, no alcohol. No sodas etc.

Don't give in and check out your blood sugar.

I have been suddenly craving sugar and carbs after not having an appetite for a month and losing 10 pounds. I was HAPPY to lose the weight and now I am worried that I do not want to eat salads anymore etc. Do not like cold food so much. Craving cake, dreaming about cake. Terrible.

I think you should tell your cardiologist about your lack of appetite and losing weight. You could be depleting your supplies of magnesium and potassium Etc.! It's best to ask your doctor.
