Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG)
A MyHeartDiseaseTeam Member asked a question 💭

Has anyone had trouble with the upper portion of their scar not healing properly. It's been 6 1/2 months and mine is still quite raw feeling and looking. I was told by family they may want to do skin graft, is this true? I'm truly scared. I spent 8 days in CCU due to fluid on my HEART, AFIB, and collapsed lung. And yes I still have pains in my chest, rarely but it feels like a pinching pain. I also am very sensitive to the wiring in my chest. I can feel it sometimes.

Just wait till you get your first shock!! It takes a little while for the score to heal no need to do the plastic surgery thing at times it'll be sensitive but you're okay. But I struggle with is I've got very low BMI because I try to stay fit and you can see the protrusion of the device and what looks like where the wires are connected and occasionally it's sensitive but you'll be okay. I wouldn't do a skin graft cuz if they got to go in and change the batteries it'll just be a bigger mess so hopefully you make it to the battery change and the succeeding one. All you can do that other thing that I mentioned someone else fuggitabboudit. 🤔😳😁😎🌹

Mel, it will get better on its own. When I had open heart I had the same thing happen with my scar, they told me not to worry it would heal and it did. and it just takes time. If you are worried about it check with the doctor to be sure it is healing as it should. I felt the wires for a long time and when a thunderstorm would be on the way I felt that in my chest too. Be patient, it gets better, I promise. Before long you won't even notice it anymore. Don't put anything on the open scar but after it heals I used aloe and vitamin E. I mixed them together and smeared them on the scar. A friend of mine who was burned told me to do that and it really did make the scar almost disappear. If you would rather use scar away that works well too I understand. Hugs

Not sure if this will help. There is something that you can buy called Scare Away you can buy it on Amazon. When I had my first surgery I bought it and it worked very well on my scare. I also had A-fib and a collasped lung. I also have a pinching pain after my recent surgery. I can't feel the wires in my chest with my most resent surgery or my quadropal bypass surgery 7 years ago.
