Battery Replacement
A MyHeartDiseaseTeam Member asked a question 💭

Is having the battery changed in your pacer/defibrillator as bad as having it installed? Not looking forward to it.

Just had mine replaced 6 months ago. Not as bad as having it put in. I did not have to have the leads in my heart replaced. That was the big difference. Just the battery replaced. You’ll be fine. Just minor pain from the incision.

I had my first one put in 2011 after my open heart . Last March they had to put in a bit larger a defibrillator/ pacer because I was in super ventilator tachycardia. Was a bit more involved . I had to spend the night in telemetry and my third wire became disconnected. Had a lot of trouble breathing so they just gave me fentenol. Not as easy as the first .♥️

Not for me. I forget that I have one inside me most of the time. I had first one put in in 2002. I had replacements in 2002, 2013 and 2021 - no problem. It is an out patient procedure.
