I've been prescribed Pradaxa for A Fib. I have had a few strokes that have left me numb on the left side, from toe to arm and covering half of front and half of back. Wondering if it will ever go away. Dr. prescribed Pradaxa, 150 mg. twice a day to stop the strokes. Am also on Plavix. Pradaxa turned my stools black when I took it the first time, so I stopped it. I take Carviderol for cardiomyopathy and also lisinopril. When I first started Carviderol I was on 60 my a day. I was on it before there was a generic. Also, it wasn't extended-release back then. Use to hit me like a ton of bricks! Now I take 20 mg XR. I just don't have a lot of exercise endurance.
I take Eliquis and it does irritate my stomach. So I take Protonix (PPI) once daily to help me tolerate the blood thinner. Hate to have a GI bleed and no way to stop it.
I wouldn’t worry about your meds turning your stools black. Pepto Bishop does the same thing, and it is unnerving if you haven’t been warned in advance!
My blood thinner causes stomach irritation which can result in a bleed so I am also taking Protonix (PPI). I have gastritis and really have to watch diet and medications that I take.
