Recovery From Stent Procedure
A MyHeartDiseaseTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have just been released after going to the hospital due to chest pressure and high blood pressure. I had a cardiac cath and a stent was placed in my LAD. Question, does one feel similar discomforts in chest while recovering from such a procedure? I’m quite nervous which is not helpful for my healing. Thank you for any assistance from your journey~

MsB they put difibulator in first in case my heart acted up. With meds and IVs I was doing good for a few days then went down hill. More tests done found out my EF was 12 percent. Next couple of days they decided I needed an LVAD implanted to keep pumping blood thru my body to keep all other organs going. Heart was to bad to pump on itts own. So basically I have a bridge to transplant as they call it. LVAD was put in July 2019. So things are going good but things could be a lot better at the same time. But it's better than the alternative i guess at least I'm still here.

I had 2 stents put in almost 2 years ago. I had chest pain so bad I was put in hospital for 5 days. It caused my heart to beat 216 beats a minute and went into Afib I begin to feel better after they got Afib under control and heart rate down. Sometimes I still feel some pressure, but the stents saved my life.

Hello Bob, if you don't mine me asking, why did you have to have an defibrillator and lvad, was your ef extremely low and damage heart muscle? My ef was low, at one point 15-20%, then 20-25%, 25-30% where it is now, I received an defibrillator in Aug/ 2019, they often test my ef, but no more until May If I am still here; have your ef increased any, I hope so. Take Care and be Blessed.

LpKeefe I had some stents put in. They went down through my neck but after the procedure I didn't feel any discomfort or pain at all. I actually started to feel a little better than I did before it. About 3 weeks later they implanted me with an LVAD and difibulator. Then I started feeling a lot better but limited. Better this way then the alternative.
