Have You Changed Your Diet?
A MyHeartDiseaseTeam Member asked a question 💭

Prior to my heart incident, I was almost 300 pounds. I worked with Weight Watchers and a private nutritionist and lost around 80 pounds. When I had the stent put in, I started Cardiac Rehab and was on the monitor twice, I now attend and I pay each month My question is have you changed your eating (life style) to suite your condition? I have.I have eliminated, Dairy, cheese, onions, peppers, especially salt and all meats except for fish and no wheat or very limited. It is a very healthy diet… read more

I am encouraged by all of the answers that I received. I had my knees replaced when I was overweight and my surgeon was so pleased with my weight loss the last time I saw him I thought he was going to hug me and he is not a very huggy type of man. I still exercise on a regular basis and watch everything I eat. In fact, they want me to eat more as I am not slightly anemic. I read books and work with a nutritionist. I study food and even increased my cable service to include the Food Network, I learn so much on how to cook and I love it. Merry Christmas to everyone, be careful at parties during the season, live by the Weight Watchers expression, 'BITE IT WRITE IT" and you will be surprised how much food you take in each day. Take care and happy holidays.

Hey that is great it has been 12 years! I lost over 80 pounds doing Ketogenic, I sure pay attention to what I eat, I walk everyday too, I in a size 14, and I keep reminding myself of it! Its rather cool, I was 220 forever, I not sure how long it took me, a year I say, I didn't have a scale so when I go see Doctor I have a mind explosion! It was so nice. I do eat chocolate, my downfall. quitting sugar is so hard. I want to quit sugar its a struggle. It sure increases my hot flashes, I have them not as much but they still bother me. I am 63. My Mom had hot flashes in her 80's, just my luck I get that! But heart wise my Cardiologist was so happy by my chlosteral levels. I be eating carbs too much, I sure feel it! I don't enjoy the heavy feeling in my stomach. I swim laps and walk every day. I swam a mile before Covid, but I just swim 50 lengths, its good and its enough for me! Keep it up. I did Weight Watchers for years, I lost 40 pounds but gained it back, but I still use the portion control, weighing my food, doing that was hard at first, but now I buy small cups! Less is better! I feel so good! I bet you feel great! Cool! Thanks!

No, but I did breath heavily. People used to think I was laughing over the phone because my breathing was so labored.

That's great what you have accomplished and you should be very proud , l'm still about the same weight as high-school. I'm a firm believer in the cardio and walking also , keep up the good work and God Bless.
