Heart rate continues to decline----resting rate was in the 45-50 range but has now dropped to 39. My cardiologist assured me it wouldn't continue to drop, but it was at 40 when he made that promise. I just need to know if there is anything I can do to keep it from continuing to drop My younger sister died in her sleep at age 58----this woman went from kindergarten thru senior year w/o missing any time except for few days when she had emergency appendectomy----then had 32 years perfect… read more

You need to find out what the root cause is. Fix that and with god willing your hr should improve. there are too many things that can cause ones heart rate to decrease. (don't believe them when they say they don't know what the cause is Dr's are too fixated on treating the end result and not looking into what the actual cause is.)

Mine resting heart rate is usual around 45-52, but I know it is caused by running for the last almost 8 years and the doctor says that and the heart being a bit large is part of being athletic.

My HR drops down as low as 38, I am thinking of getting a HR monitor that beeps when it drops below 40 and I will get up and run around the block to raise it

make sure you don't have thyroid disease ( hypo thyroid) that will cause your heart to slow down if it isn't being treated properly ( I learned that the hard way)... i just last week discovered that was the cause of my bradycardia and heart failure ( you would have thought that the cardiologists would have told me. had to find our in research papers.. go figure.
