Will Oxygen Help With The Shortness Of Breath When Walking

When I go shopping I can only walk a short distance total short of breath will oxygen help

A MyHeartDiseaseTeam Member said:

Try pursed lip breathing. Inhale through nose for 2 counts, exhale through pursed lips (almost whistling) for 4 counts. I usually inhale 2 steps exhale 4 steps and take it slow when walking and I can do the shopping at Walmart without taking sit down breaks now. I have COPD as well as A-FIB, so I know this technique can work well.

I was advised against oxygen because it can make you dependent. Try breathing exercises!

You shouldn't be wearing a facemask , you have trouble breathing as it is . A facemask restricts your breathing ability even more . Not only that , you shouldn't be breathing in carbon dioxide anyway. That's why plants are very healthy ; they take in the carbon dioxide that we emit , & we take in the oxygen that they emit .
