Just Had Triple Bypass
A MyHeartDiseaseTeam Member asked a question 💭

I just had triple bypass june 2019. I am having problems trying to find things to have for like dinner. My meals before were eggs and bacon for breakfast and TV dinner at night with sometimes a Turkey or chicken sandwich at lunch. Any Ideas what I can eat for dinners I have always had fried foods also but need to eat healthy?

I gave up packaged processed and canned goods. I also read all the labels o everything for the lowest sodium content. I try to avoid salt as best as I can. When we go out to restaurants for a meal I ask for no salt. Try to eat all the fresh fruits and vegetables and if they are not available go to frozen. Sounds hard but you get use to it. You’ll be surprised ar the food selection ther are out there. I’ve been doing this for 3 years now and I feel fine.

We too went to/no sodium-haven't found losodium bacon tho!! (My hubby has joined me on this new diet world as he says he's not gonna cook 2types of meals each day!--love him even more for that!) So we've come to enjoy more fish, pork, red meat (w/moderation), I make our bread because commercial has too much sodium--and we limit our use of cheese (sodium-again) and of course fruit and veggies!!-- he's lost weight (the stinker!!) But getting comfortable with the adjustment made--P/

We eat low sodium bacon. We like salad with any kind of greens carrots celery cucumbers tomatoes feta cheese olives dried beets broccoli slaw mix hard boiled eggs you can add chicken either baked or grilled. We seldom eat fried foods . We bake broiled or grill on the George Forman grill which we love . We make soup and grilled cheese sandwich. We eat fish pork chops chicken beef roast or ribs. We like the steamable vegetables. We look at the labels anything above 1000 mg sodium we leave it. We eat squash all kinds . We use hamburger with many things. We eat pasta rice or noodles. Good luck. There are many apps on the phone that you can find recipes on .

Had my attack also in June but I have 4 stents. All of the docs said "no red meat" again. Also, zero or almost zero saturated fats. But my wife is a great cook, so we are eating lots of grilled vegetables, fish, some chicken, bean salads, regular salads, some pasta, Have lost 12# in 8 weeks. Also, lots of fruit. Also, we love coffee so have now mixing 2/3 decaf with 1/3 reg coffee when we brew the coffee.
