My Doctor Says Rest Until I See Cardiologist
A MyHeartDiseaseTeam Member asked a question 💭

I don’t understand what my doctor means when she says rest until I see cardiologist. How much can I do? I am so weak and tired. I was in the hospital but cardiologist was on vacation. Because they think I need a stint and I am allergic to aspirin.

I hope you've seen a cardiologist by now. I remember that weeks before my heart attack I was so fatigued that I thought I would fall asleep driving.

I would interpret "rest" as advice to avoid activities that raise the heart rate. I'm sure he didn't mean go to bed and stay there, though.

Patricia did the heart catherization show anything?

I saw a cardiologist and had a cardiac catherization. He put me on medications to help. I am not as weak but I don’t feel I will ever get my energy back.

Don't do anything that will cause your heart rate to go up - things that are physical like housework, carrying things upstairs etc. I would hope they will get you in to see the cardiologist soon. I would call them on Monday and find out what is going on. If you are having chest pains go to the ER. I have to rest right now - have a stress test on Friday, may have a new blockage - so most of my day is sitting, watching TV and knitting or reading. Not very exciting but it's what the doctor has ordered.
