I take for swelling in ankles and legs it works sometimes and sometimes not is this normal

My cardiologist put me on spirolactone 25mgs as lasix wasn't working I have normal legs and feet after 2years of swelling. My b/p is in good range the only drawback is kidney function can be impaired always a drawback ..
