Statin Muscle Pain - Off Them 2 Months- Still Have Shooting Pain In Legs And Gluts- Anyone Know Anything That Helps Relieve This Problem?
A MyHeartDiseaseTeam Member asked a question 💭

I developed severe muscle pain in my gluts and thighs from statins. It is better after having been off them for 2 months, but I still get shooting pains and cannot sit for any prolonged time. Is there anything that has helped you if you had this problem?

When I stopped taking statins I notices an improvement in about 2 weeks. I was getting severe cramping in my lower legs and could hardly walk. I haven't taken any statins for 8 years now. My total cholesterol stays in the lower 200's since I have stopped.

The Dr seems unable to accept that I cannot take statins and keeps trying to put me on them, even after tendon damage. 4 x now. He basically gave me a death sentence if I do not take them! He wants me now to take statins and Repatha. I have not taken any statins for weeks but the pain continues to wake me up although it has subsided somewhat. They say no pain meds but Tylenol ,which is no help. I use Arnica cream rarely although I am not sure it's totally safe. Tried hot/cold, TENS, etc. with no relief.

It's unusual for your to still be feeling the side effects of the statins. Maybe it's time to discuss with your doctor... Good Luck!
