Charles Whitcomb, MD

Dr. Charles Whitcomb has been a clinical cardiologist for over 45 years. After growing up in the Far East, he attended Pacific Union College in Angwin, California, and graduated from medical school at the University of California, Davis. He completed a residency at the University of California, Los Angeles, and a fellowship in cardiovascular disease at UC Davis. After a stint in private practice in Northern California, he returned to UC Davis and spent 29 years there as a clinical and interventional cardiologist. While there, he focused on percutaneous coronary intervention, acute care and intensive care cardiology, and coronary risk reduction — particularly lipid disorders and metabolic syndrome. For 12 years, he served as attending cardiologist in a nationally recognized Pulmonary Hypertension Center of Excellence. More recently, he serves as attending cardiologist at San Joaquin General Hospital in French Camp, California, teaching residents; seeing patients in the intensive care unit, hospital, and outpatient clinic; and working with the cardiology telemedicine program.

Dr. Whitcomb is married to Laurie Helen Whitcomb. They have five children: Jay, Timothy, Emily, Abigail, and Charlie. He travels, plays the piano, and is an avid rower.
